Church Burns Supper 2011

The Church Burns Supper was again held at St. Georges School and was attended by 76 members of the congregation and friends. The proceedings opened with a display of highland dancing.

Then came the haggis, escorted in style by piper, Gregor Alan; carried in equal style by Sandy Hare, and bringing up the rear with a most important ingrediant of Scotch Malt Whisky (Dalwhinnie), Archie Blair.

Ian Blair gave a very impassioned and unusually "hands on" address to the Haggis.
After which we all tucked in.

In a departure from the normal way of doing things, Rena Menzies gave a short talk about the life of "Oor Rabbie" after which a group of us combined to read the whole of "Tan O' Shanter".

The toasts "To the Lassies" and the reply, were given by Lorraine and Archie Blair. However, I forgot to take photographs of them in full flight and so, with apologies, I give you a picture of them in church the next day, fortunately, seeming none the worse of their ordeal.
